10-night immersive theater production at Theater Neumarkt exploring humanity's future beyond Earth—served as one of three artistic directors, handling music/audio and co-developing the overall production.

Overview

A 10-night immersive theatrical experience at Theater Neumarkt where audiences imagined living and creating on an exomoon—a moon orbiting a planet in another solar system. I served as one of three project leads/artistic directors in this 18-month collaboration between SEADS, Theater am Neumarkt, and the CHAMELEON exoplanet research group.

The production invited audiences to reflect on what a new home beyond Earth might look like and what values, identity, and knowledge we choose to carry as we expand beyond our atmosphere. Through layered, multi-sensory journeys, visitors encountered alien environments and participated in creating something unknown across possible worlds.

My Role

One of three artistic directors working in a horizontal collaborative structure. I handled music and audio for the production while all three leads contributed to:

  • Overall concept development
  • Workshop facilitation with actors
  • Designing the play itself
  • Set design and spatial decisions

The leadership structure was intentionally non-hierarchical—we each brought specific expertise (my focus being sonic/musical) while sharing responsibility for the production’s conceptual and practical development.

Context

As space exploration becomes increasingly embedded in human culture, EXOMOON offered a glimpse into futures of colonized alien environments. The piece explored individual self-reflection during the transition from terrestrial life to speculative space habitats while examining contemporary human activities and cultural expressions.

For the complete picture of this production—including the full collaborative framework, research partnerships with CHAMELEON, and Theater Neumarkt’s role—see the SEADS project page.
